September 29 is the International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Waste, established by the United Nations. The purpose of this day is to address global food loss and waste challenges, improve the situation of discarding edible food, and encourage action toward a sustainable food system.
On this occasion, Lively is pleased to announce the launch of a new food loss reduction project aimed at building a sustainable, environmentally friendly society. Through this project, participants will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the hard work behind food production via hands-on agricultural workshops. By experiencing the journey of produce from farm to table, we aim to inspire participants to value food more and reduce waste. We believe that small, mindful changes can make a significant impact. (More project details will be shared separately.)
Lively will also support environmental and social impact NGOs/NPOs working to reduce food loss through the global initiative “1% for the Planet”* (Headquarters: USA, CEO: Kate Williams), which we joined in June 2024. By connecting with the diverse non-profits participating in 1% for the Planet, we aim to foster individual awareness and behavior change.

*2 About “1% for the Planet”: This global organization aims to ensure the planet and future generations thrive. Founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, the founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, it encourages businesses to donate 1% of their annual sales to environmental causes. Members can make a real difference by supporting trusted environmental partners. Today, the “1% for the Planet” network includes thousands of businesses and over 5,000 environmental partners working together to protect the environment worldwide.
Our ‘Agricultural Experience Workshop,’ part of this project, stems from our passion to protect natural greenery. Inspired by the concept of ‘mottainai’ (wastefulness in Japanese), we tackle the issue of wasting edible food, fostering gratitude for nature’s gifts and promoting thoughtful efforts to reduce waste.
Lively works closely with producers, NGOs, and local communities to promote innovative ways to reduce food waste. Together, we are taking steps toward building a sustainable future. For updates on the project, please visit our official website.
