Message from Lively

This is the third interview in our series. In this interview, we spoke with Professor Tsuyoshi Shimmura, who is engaged in animal welfare research and education with the aim of realizing One Welfare—an approach that recognizes the interconnections between animal welfare, human well-being, and the environment.

Since Lively’s early days, we have worked closely with Professor Shimmura for nearly two years to jointly develop educational programs at “Unshelled,” a next-generation model facility for laying hens located at the Fuchu Campus of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. The facility was completed in January 2025, and experiential animal welfare education programs for corporations and organizations were formally launched in May 2025.

In this interview, Professor Shinmura discusses the background behind the establishment of Unshelled and outlines the education programs we have developed and implemented together. He also reflects on how our collaboration began and how it has evolved over time. For further details, please read the full interview here.
