In recent years, the EU has rapidly developed and strengthened environmental regulations significantly impacting corporate activities, driven by climate change countermeasures and biodiversity conservation. A series of regulations, including the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and CSDDD (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive), are characterized by requiring integrated responses across corporate management strategy, governance, and the entire supply chain.
These regulations are not limited to companies within the EU as they are increasingly affecting Japanese companies through trade and investment. At the same time, many companies face the challenge of not having a clear understanding of the overall structure of these systems, their interrelationships, and their specific implications for management.
