Lively carried out a project with the goal of developing a business plan for a major energy company by analyzing technology and investment trends in CCU (carbon dioxide capture and utilization) technology. We surveyed technology trends and customer needs in each CCU area, clarified the timing of social implementation through stakeholder investment trends, and created scenarios through 2050.

Importance of decarbonization investment strategies for energy transition

Our client, a major energy company, has planned to focus its strategic investments on decarbonization, using the current mid-term plan as a considering period for considering for investment in the decarbonization area to prepare for the energy transition expected after 2030. For that reason, development of a robust future scenario for decarbonization trends in the energy industry, providing certainty of existing businesses and enhancing the quality of management decision-making was needed.

Aiming for social implementation based on investment trends and benchmark analysis of CCU technology

This project involved identifying future scenarios by analyzing technology and investment trends in CCU technology, followed by business plan development. Lively extracted global precedent cases for detailed benchmark analysis, examined technology and investor trends, identified emerging technologies, and developed scenarios for dissemination of and social implementation of key technologies.

Toward sustainable growth with CCU and Blue Carbon

Through this project, the client identified future trends and customer needs in the field of blue carbon-related technologies in CCU, clarifying prioritization of investments on decarbonization. Technology and market scenarios up to 2050 were developed and the specific investment policy to enhance competitiveness in energy transition was formulated, leading to a sustainable growth strategy of the client.

In this project, we supported a major energy company in formulating their growth strategy for the energy transition beyond 2030. By analyzing CCU technology and investment trends, we developed detailed future scenarios. We identified leading global examples of blue carbon technologies and conducted benchmark analyses. Additionally, we analyzed technological and investor trends to identify promising future technologies, deriving scenarios for their implementation. This enabled the company to enhance competitiveness in the energy market beyond 2030 and clarify decarbonization investment priorities.
